So where are we going to fish? Or, can we fish on this lake? I hear it's a good lake for big musky or smallmouth. Fortunately we are located right in the middle of one of the premier fisheries in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. We fish and guide in Vilas, Iron and Oneida counties. Vilas county has without a doubt some of the best musky and smallmouth lakes in Wisconsin. Neighboring Oneida and Iron counties round out a perfect triangle of trophy fish waters to get lost in. Trophy musky and smallmouth waters like the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, Gile Flowage, Manitowish Chain, Rainbow Flowage and Big St. Germain are just a few of our favorites to fish. Even when the fishing pressure is high, we have located fish in these lakes that can still be teased into action. Or we switch gears to check out one of the smaller gems that dot this area.
Then there is the bonus. Michigan's Western UP borders Wisconsin's premier fishery. This creates the perfect spill over for great musky and smallmouth fishing. The Cisco Chain, Thousand Island, and Lac Vieux Desert to name some of the best. I grew up fishing this area, so getting away from heavy pressured fish is what I know. It's amazing what I have learned over the past 40 years of where to find fish that want to play.
Great lodging can be found all throughout the area that I guide for musky and smallmouth bass. Mercer, Winchester, Lac Du Flambeau, Manitowish Waters, Saint Germain or Land O Lakes are wonderful communities that cater the anglers. Because these communities are located in the areas I fish neither of us will travel far to meet up for a day on the water.
If there is a specific lake you would like to fish, give me a call. I will do what I can to get you into that trophy fish you are looking for
